For more than two decades MSCS’s status and a 501c3 organization has allowed and partnered with the Morning Star Baptist Church to provide regular bi-monthly food preparation and distribution through collaboration with the Allegheny County Food Bank. These meals and food distribution services have filled the void for many individuals and families impacted by the food desert reality in the community of Clairton.
MSCS as a non profit entity in collaboration with corporate organizations and volunteers has provided pc literacy instruction to adults and children locally and in surrounding communities. This was made possible through the donations of personal computers and associated equipment provided by corporate partners. The collaborative efforts allowed for many, particularly adults to learn the basics of computer operation and use for personal and professional development. Join our team of volunteers and make a difference in the lives of others.
Recognizing the gaps that exists for many families with low-incomes in the community, MSCS in collaboration with the church, department store and private gifts purchased recreational equipment and items that were used for establishing weekly recreational activities and outlets for the youth. Multiple times weekly the recreational sessions were for the youth utilizing the resources provided and volunteers who assisted. This provide a safe, enjoyable, comfort zone for the youth and their families to spend time in a positive impactful environment with friends and family as the only place in town for such activity.
MSCS has collaborated with the local universities and health agencies to help bring awareness and exposure to better health and prevention resources. MSCS participated as a resource support entity to direct individuals and families to various avenues of support for social and health needs. In collaboration with the church it has assisted in holding workshops and seminars on health issues, treatments and basic skills such as CPR, Blood Pressure monitoring, Diabetes prevention and Drug addiction prevention.
The impact has been positive in each aspect of the aforementioned areas. The end result being a more healthy, enabled and educated community with hope for better things to come.
